Loss of Memory – What it is and How to Compensate For It

Memory loss in one form or another is a reality that a lot of people have to face as they grow older. What exactly is memory and how can its loss be coped with may not be the hard questions they seem.

So What is The Memory?

In actuality there are two types of what we call memory that we utilize on a day to day basis. There’s our short-term memory which is responsible for recalling what we have done in the recent past, such as, what we had for breakfast or the name of that new neighbor we just met, and there’s our long-term memory that is sometimes referred to as our permanent memory. This is where we store such memories such as what we did last year during our vacation or what gifts we received when we turned eight years old.

So What is Normal Memory Loss?

Every human being receives a constant stream of information relayed to us by our five senses every day. As children we have a natural ability to grasp, retain, and recall this remarkable amount of information with ease. However, as we grow older it is normal for this ability to slow down, stop, and for some over the age of 40, may even reverse slightly. It is in this reversing so to speak that we begin to see memory loss. To be frank, like a saturated sponge, the ability to grasp and keep information just “in our heads” becomes more difficult.

So Can We Compensate For This Normal Loss?

Absolutely! There are many ways to compensate or even improve on fading memory functions. Some of the simpler ways of doing this is to make daily lists of tasks to be done, keep detailed calendars of important events, and/or establish standard places to keep needed items, such as, placing your keys on a hook by the door, and your cell phone on the corner of your desk when not being carried with you.

Another way that mental function can be improved is by exercising your mind on a daily basis with crossword and other written puzzles, or by using timed mind games as a challenge. For example, saying the alphabet or spelling the names of states or countries backwards. It is through these games and other timed daily challenges that the mind and memory will get its real workout and memory function will improve.…

How to Burn a PS3 Game (Blu Ray)

Copying PS3 games has become a hot topic online, with many people wondering how they can make copies & backups of their favorite games without the hassle of making bad copies. The only problem is that since PS3 games are blu-ray, this can be quite tricky. But luckily, this tutorial will show you how to burn them.

What You Need

To burn a PS3 game, you will need some software and other equipment. Here’s what you need:

  • a blu-ray burner (not cheap!)
  • blank blu-ray discs
  • your original PS3 gaming disc
  • imgBurn software (from imgburn.com)

How To Burn The PS3 Games

To burn a PS3 games, you first need to get imgBurn on your PC. This is the software which will allow you to copy the blu-ray discs that the PS3 games are burnt on. You get this from imgburn.com – you just need to download the software, install it and then run it.

When you’ve installed the imgBurn software, you just need to then open it up, put your original PS3 game in your blu-ray drive and then click on “Create image from disc”. Then choose the place where you want to save the image file and let imgBurn do its work. This will save the contents of the game disc as an “image file” which we will be able to burn later.

After the software has saved the image of the game, you then need to open imgBurn’s main screen again and then select the “Write Image File To Disc”. This will bring up a new screen, where you can select an image file you want to burn to disc. At this point, you need to put your blank blu ray disc into the drive and then select the image file that you just copied. Then you need to select a write speed of 4X (for maximum success) and then proceed to let imgBurn put the game data onto your blank disc.

After about 40 minutes, the process should complete and you’ll have burnt PS3 to disc!

How To Play Your Copied Games

Although burning the disc is the easy part, it’s getting your console to play them which is difficult. This is a problem which prevents many people from actually playing their copied games on their console, and is fixed by performing a few tweaks to your PC and PS3. These don’t void the warranty, but you need to know how to do them properly.…

Zombie Madness – The Zombie Cult

The sight of a dead person with smelly rotting flesh, out stretched hands, hunting for human meat, repeatedly saying a particular word after a set interval and walking at the speed of a turtle with two legs should be a dead give away that you are in Zombie land. The mindless living dead aka Zombies have captivated the imagination of many people around the world.

So before I move on to the essential part of this article, I because I did provide some background information on the zombie culture as I found it very interesting indeed. I hope you do too.

The Zombie culture was first introduced in movies with 1938 production called White zombie and was later popularized by the 1968 film Night of the living dead. Which in turn lead to other famous productions such as The evil dead, Return of the living dead, Resident Evil and the 2003 release 28 days later.

An interesting theory that came to mind while writing this article is the small possibility that Zombie characters could have been inspired by one of the most influential names in horror stories and horror movies Frankenstein. Although Frankenstein is more often referred to as a Monster rather than a Zombie, it is difficult to miss the striking similarities. The question is not if Frankenstein is a zombie or not, rather, is Frankenstein the father of all Zombies? I'll let you decide.

One of the most compelling reasons that led me to this theory while doing research on the topic was, the first Frankenstein movie with sound was released in 1931, titled Frankenstein. The sequel to the movie The bride of Frankenstein was released in 1935. On the other hand, the first ever zombie movie White Zombie was only released in 1938.

Frankenstein was born in 1818 through a novel written by Mary Shelley. However, the 1931 release of the movie Frankenstein was modified from the original version of the novel. In contrast with the films adaptation, Frankenstein was not created out of dead body parts in the novel. There have also been references to the introduction of the word zombie to American culture through the 1929 book The Magic Island by WB Seabrook. The narrator describes his experience in Haiti, where Voodoo cults practiced the art of resurrection. This information adds another twist to the tale; Could Frankenstein have been an inspiration from zombie tales?

Another interesting question that popped up was, if Frankenstein is not a zombie, then who is the most famous zombie of all time? Some rather strange names popped into my head when I asked myself that question I must admit. Could Jesus classify as a zombie? If he could then it would definitely make him the most famous. How about Eddie the head, the mascot of British heavy metal band Iron Maiden, Kenny from South Park, Michael Jackson in Thriller, Imhotep from The Mummy, or the girl in the well from the movie The Ring. Can you think of any …

Video Game Cheats

Video games are evolving continuously. From the days of simple two-dimensional video games, they are now being created as action packed 3-D worlds. In a number of games, designs are complex and targets can be reached after following strategies. It is a common practice to create shortcuts or cheat codes to attain high scores in video games.

Just about every video game system that has been created permits the use of a cheat code at one stage or another. Progress and development have allowed video games to move from one generation to another. Video games are now available with endless possibilities. However, over the years cheats, codes, and Easter eggs have been a staple in video games.

A video game cheat code is mostly a key combination or password that causes an event or chain effect within a video game. These codes can be used to add ammunition to a gun, change surroundings, make the central character more powerful or change it to a new character. Cheats are used commonly to enhance game functions. These are designed as escape routes when players face a difficult situation in the game.

Cheats are also available in the form of cheat devices. These are mostly specific hardware or software, which are designed to help players enter cheat codes. These codes consequently modify the game’s contents and in most cases, act in favor of the player.

Cheats and codes are used by a number of players all over the world. They function because the game design permits it. Entering a cheat code during a game enables a specified built in code that allows a player to attain a predetermined effect. Using a video game cheat is considered to be safe. However, if the game is downloaded from the Internet, cheat codes might not function.…

Super Smash Bros Brawl – Worth the Wait?

The favorite game for Wii this season has been the third installment of the Super Smash Bros called "Super Smash Bros Brawl". This is the game which all Wii console players have been waiting for a long time. After much delay the game is finally launched and it is one of the hottest games right now.

Now let me tell you more about the game and why you should have this in your Favorites section. The most important reason is because of its game play, even if you are not a Super Smash Bros fan, you will get addicted to this game in the first 10 minutes of game play. It is just really fun when you throw your enemies out of the screen with those unique special moves. This game can be played on four controllers which are Classic Controller, GameCube Controller, Wii Remote and Nunchuk and Wii remote together. So you can choose whichever controller you are comfortable with and you can configure them as you like. The game can be played in many modes, which includes standard multiplayer mode as well as elimination-based tournament where a maximum of 16 players can play the game, solo mode which is not very different from previous versions where you have randomly generated matches. My favorite mode has to be Adventure mode: The Subspace Emissary which is a side-scrolling based game with a wonderful storyline filled with meeting more friends as you go along and fighting the Bosses with the help of your friends. Mario and Kirby start the game as they go along side-scrolling fighting the Subspace armies and meeting friends who help them out with their fight against the Tabuu and the Subspace Army and saving the Smash Bros Universe.

The multiplayer is comparatively lag-free and with lots of features like sharing game replays, screenshots and custom levels with you friends. The custom levels created by the users can not be used to play multiplayer game, but there are tons of awesome looking levels so it is not a deal breaker. Even if you have no friends playing Brawl, you can join multiplayer game in Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection and you can play with randomly selected participants. If you are new to Brawl and are intimidated with all Brawl PRO's, you can be a spectator and learn from the PRO's and then you can start playing.

Now to the most important feature of Brawl, it has 35 players to choose from. Some of the players are Snake from Metal Gear Solid Series, Pikachu from Pokemon series, Donkey Kong, Mario's alter ego Wario and the best addition Sonic the Hedgehog. Every Player has its own unique special moves and they are very much balanced. But I normally prefer Sonic because he is fast and can jump all over the screen. So the game is going on to become the "Game of the Year" title for Wii. If you have not already bought this game, now is the right to buy it. …

Paddle Partner App Utilizes Offline Navigation to Enhance Kayaking Expereinces

(New Jersey) Paddle Partner recently released the 1.4 version of the iOS app designed to enhance the kayaking and canoeing experience. The new app harnesses the power of technology and smart device data to allow those on the water to navigate their paths without the use of paper maps.

“The vision of Paddle Partner was to create a user experience that was superior to other options available today,” stated company representative Kyle Wendel. “With the Delaware Water Gap Map kayakers and canoers can follow their selected path without fear of getting lost and enjoy the peace of mind that they always know where they are. No more hassle thanks to the paper-free navigation app. With this app, there is no reason to use traditional paper maps anymore.”

Up until now, water-lovers had to rely on paper maps for planning their canoeing and kayaking trips on the major park river trails because of no internet access, which is needed for other map navigation apps. The team at Paddle Partner saw the need for a solution to the paper map issue and created this new application, Paddle Partner provides offline navigation services.

Wendel continued, “The Mobile Map lets users see their maps in real-time, regardless of if they have an internet connection. With this app in use, adventurists can easily navigate their chosen destination and measure the distance to and from their desired landing point, view available campsites and their average paddling speed. After all, if WAZE and Google maps can get us to a destination on land, why can’t the Paddle Partner app get kayaks to their campsites near the water?”

Version 1.4 for the iOS was released in the spring of 2017 and there are plans to provide an Android version later in the year. To learn more about destinations, specific features and planned updates, those interested can visit www.paddlepartner.com/delawareriver/.

Paddle Partner is considered the go-to app for kayak and canoe lovers who paddle on the Delaware River. This is a unique kayak app that offers users real-time navigation statistics both on- and offline. There’s no need to use paper or have internet connectivity. This app will work with or without it. With the Paddle partner app, users won’t ever have to deal with paper maps getting ripped or torn or worry about losing their way while camping. This takes the worry and concern out of the entire process.
